One search budget for both sides of the mission

Food banks, housing support and crisis services stand between two people searching: the one who needs help tonight and the one who wants to fund that help. The grant is one of the few budgets that can serve both.

Is this page about your organization?

Written for

  • Food banks and meal services
  • Housing and homelessness support
  • Family, youth and crisis services
  • Community centers and advice services

What you need in place

  • A registered nonprofit in the EU, US, UK, Canada, Australia or Switzerland.
  • A working website that people can act on: donate, sign up, apply, book or get in touch.
  • At least one of those actions worth measuring.

Hospitals and healthcare organizations, schools and universities, and government entities are excluded by Google. Organizations without a functioning, converting website are excluded by AdGranted, because the campaigns would have nowhere to send people.

One budget, two kinds of searcher

“Food bank open today” is the service itself

Someone searching for tonight’s meal or an emergency bed is worth nothing to an advertiser, so reaching them has come out of your own budget. The grant pays for that click, and the ad takes them to your opening hours, the right address and the intake form.

The people who fund it search locally too

The support side of a community organization is local as well, in searches like “donate to local food bank” and “volunteer near me”. The campaigns are set to your service area, so your ads reach neighbors and not the whole country. Kept as its own half of the account, the supporter campaigns let you answer the board’s quarterly question: how much of the grant reached people who needed help, and how much recruited the donors and volunteers who pay for it.

Who pays for what

Google provides the grant

$10,000.

Up to this much a month in Google search advertising credit.

Google provides the credit and makes the approval decision. How much of it your campaigns use depends on search demand, your website and how relevant the campaigns are.

Your organization

ALSO ASKED · COMMUNITY

01We operate under a fiscal sponsor. Does that work?

Sometimes, and it is one of the harder calls. Google applies country-specific rules to sponsored, group-exempt, chapter and umbrella structures, and the arrangement by itself makes you neither eligible nor ineligible. What decides it is which entity holds the qualifying registration and which entity controls the website the ads point to. AdGranted works through the actual structure before you commit, and escalates rather than guesses where it stays unclear.

HOW WE WORK

02We have no paid staff. Are we still eligible?

Yes: an all-volunteer organization stands on the same footing as any other, because the test is your registration status, not your payroll. One practical consequence: verification confirms that the person applying is genuinely connected to the organization, and where there is no employment contract to point at, a volunteer agreement, board minutes or a signed confirmation of your role does the same job. Have one of those to hand before you apply.

HOW WE WORK

03What happens if we go quiet for a few weeks?

A reply within five business days is what we ask. After seven calendar days without one we may pause the project, and after 30 calendar days of inactivity following that pause we may close it administratively. Closure before campaign build has begun is a qualifying full-refund event; closure after it is not. A closed project can usually be restarted with no restart fee where the scope has not materially changed.

Seven paths through Google Ad Grants. Find yours.

The free quiz asks about your organization, your website, and where the grant stands today. It then names the path that fits: a straight launch, website work first, a stuck application to unblock, an active account to improve, a suspended one to assess, a self-managed route, or groundwork before any of it.
